Hello friends! I'm writing to you from my sunny kitchen. It's a cold day out, but the sun is fooling us - I had to fight my kids on wearing shorts to school today. HA! Not quite there yet.
I'm really delighted to be facilitating a couple of song circles in May in collaboration with Nature Connect in Kitchener. This is a singing workshop, intended for adults who want to bring singing into their teaching practice and anyone just wanting to sing, honestly! Come away with new song 🎶 ideas, a warm heart ♥️, and a soothed soul!
The first one sold out so quick we've decided to offer a second! Seriously, who doesn’t like to sing in the woods?!? Join us! See natureconnect.ca for details.

Here we are, in the depths of winter in southern Ontario. The deepest snow I have seen in Toronto in a decade and dare I say I…love it? I've been seeing all of these posts and comments about February being the longest month of the year and I have come to realize that I am part of a special tribe that relishes cold winter. Even the morning dog walk, wind biting, snow crunching underfoot (under paw) feels like a gift. I'm bright-siding, and it feels good :)
I've been spending the last few months off the road immersed in reading and study - I'm working on my Forest School Practitioner Certificate which has had me thinking a lot about importance of play and wonder, even for adults. Yesterday I spent 6 hours outside playing with kids in -15 degrees and sitting quietly, contemplating the sky as I settled myself into a snowy hug. I felt renewed despite the chaos of our world. It is literally grounding to lay down and look at the sky and wonder at our place in the universe. And it is even better to build a snow fort with a 6 year old!
I have also been preparing to lead the songwriting stream at the 2025 Haliburton WinterFolk Camp taking place Feb 28-Mar 3. A group of us will spend 5 sessions discussing songs and songwriting, getting out of our heads and just…creating. Though I have run many songwriting sessions in the past, with both with Kerri & Sue (Good Lovelies) and solo, this is the most time I will have spent with one group of people on the topic, and I'm itching to dig deep as a collective.
That's it for now, except that I've got the Ontario Election on my mind (please vote!), and staying committed to my community to keep hope at the forefront. Moving, doing, resting, repeat.
Remember, the days are getting longer.

Hello friends! I've been deep in Good Lovelies land over the last few months, touring our new record We Will Never Be the Same" which came out on Outside Records on Oct 6, 2023. We've just come back from a stellar tour of the UK througout January, and have also announced a tour of Ontario in May. You can grab tickets and find out more at goodlovelies.com.

I'm also delighted to be playing a solo set at the brand “Our Music Festival” taking place at Hugh's Room on March 7, 2024. I can't wait to be part of this lineup which includes some of my favourite people and musicians. Please join us!
I'm beckoning the sun today in Toronto and so happy to be home with my loved ones. I MISSED THEM SO MUCH…I'm also looking forward to not getting on a plane for awhile but also VERY grateful that I have had this last stretch of time enjoying my friends and being out on the road with beautiful audiences.

WELCOME FALL! Summer is lingering and last night the moon was overwhelmingly beautiful rising above the Toronto skyline, unbelievably big; my daughter and I ran around the streets trying to glimpse it between buildings, big and beautiful and outshining the streetlights.
I'm happy to announce that I'm playing at this year's Restoration Festival, which is a celebration of Art & Nature (my two favourite things) in Almaguin Highlands.

I play on Friday October 13th, along with the brilliant Jillian Peever and the Parry Sound Friendship Centre Drummers. There will also be lots of local nature enthusiasts promoting local nature events throughout the evening. Tickets are available NOW!
There are also lots of other incredible activites happening over the weekend, including an Invasive Species Removal activity, a guided canoe trip, a seniors dance movement class, a performance by (MY FRIENDS!) Dala on Saturday night, and a sacred medicine walk to close out the festival on Sunday.
All details are at magrivernaturehub.ca
Hope to see you out there xo

EAST COAST TOUR ANNOUNCE!
I'm delighted to announce a co-bill tour with my dear friend and collaborator BEN KUNDER. This coming June, we're hitting the 401 East toward the ocean, and are playing a bunch of shows along the way…I really hope you'll join us! We'll each be playing a set of our tunes and collaborating on a handful of them together. Details and tickets on my TOUR PAGE.

There has been lots of activity for me this spring including a wonderful tour with Good Lovelies out west, where we hugged big trees and played a series of intimate concerts. My family and I just had the most fun trip to the UK to vist our family - it's not often that I get to board a plane with just carry on baggage and wow I never want to go back to lugging gear through airports (HA!). Photo shoots and music announcements for Good Lovelies coming soon too…all very exciting. And getting in the garden, perhaps most importantly ;)

I'm gently easing my way into 2023...
Despite the eternal slate grey of Toronto skies these days, I'm finding January to be beautiful in that dark, gloomy way. For me this time of year inspires hibernation, creative reflection and hope for the year to come. Lately I've been trying (**trying!**) to get up early before the kids are awake and before the bustle of the day takes over so that I can spend a little time alone reading and writing before dawn by candlelight. It's like a romantic gift to myself, ha!
All this quiet reflection is helping me prepare for my first ever Banff Centre Artist Residency later this month! I'm working on a creative project that involves collecting field recordings of nature, of my family, of the soundscape of the places that I love and spend a lot of time in. More about that in the coming months, but for now it's been a nice place to put my mind, especially after a very busy Good Lovelies Christmas tour!
I'm happy to announce some February tour dates in Ontario. I hope you'll join me on the heels of my creative residency! For tickets and details head HERE.

Christmas time is upon us! In the whirlwind of recent @goodlovelies activity, I've been slacking on the personal update front. All is well here - I'm getting set for a couple weeks of happy holiday chaos with my family here in Toronto, prepping tourtiere and the Christmas crackers. There's a lot to say about the last few months, in particular about the recent Good Lovelies Christmas tour (WHICH WAS AMAZING!). But that's for later!
For now I wanted to let you know that I'll be playing Hibernate Festival in Port Hope on February 11th, 2023. Tickets are on sale now! More on that to follow!
Happy 2023, I hope all is well with you.
